Bowl For Kids' Sake 2010 alert!!!

 BFKS 2010 will take place on April 10th & 11th, 2010.  We will again be holding the event at
Bowl-O-Rama in Exeter.
You can help in many ways:
  • Companies can help by becoming a Corporate Sponsor.  Sponsorships range from $5,000 for the Prime Sponsor to $500.
  • Sponsor a team of Little Brothers & Sisters ($300 for full sponsor/$150 for co-sponsor)
  • Begin to recruit your team of 4 or 5 bowlers (minimum team pledge of $275).

MISSION STATEMENT:  Our mission is to foster positive and measurable growth for at-risk youth including a strengthened sense of self-worth; development of character; and improved relationships & performance at home, in school, and throughout the community.  We achieve our goals through four (4) mentoring programs utilizing carefully-screened and trained volunteers.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, PA, serves children ages 8- to 19-years-of-age.  Applications for new Little Brothers or Little Sisters are accepted up to and including age 15.

For volunteer Big Brothers or Big Sisters...flexibility is the key!  They can choose between our various mentoring programs based upon the time they have available to volunteer, their location, their experience, etc.

For the second consecutive year...Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County sends out our deepest appreciation to Greg Sarangoulis, Tammy Pinnix, and all of our friends at GMI First Inc.  GMI has again partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters as the PRIME SPONSOR of Bowl For Kids' Sake 2010...scheduled for April 10th & 11th at Bowl-O-Rama in Exeter.
                        
The 28th annual BFKS season begins this Saturday, January 23rd...with a Bowl For Kids' Sake Kick-Off celebration at Boscov's East (at the Reading Mall).  From 11 am to 3 pm...you can stop by to enjoy some refreshments and enjoy various kids' activities, while getting additional information on Bowl For Kids' Sake as well as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County in general.  Our thanks to Boscov's East for playing host to the BFKS Kick-Off event.

Both the State House and the State Senate approved resolutions declaring January as Mentoring Month in Pennsylvania.  Jim Smith -- Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County -- joined fellow Executive Directors, state legislators, and guests at a press conference in the Capitol Rotunda on January 26th to commemorate Mentoring Month.  January is also National Mentoring Month.

Our appreciation goes out to the companies who have joined in partnership with BBBS of Berks this year...through the Pennsylvania EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program.  EITC contributions have been received this year form:  Capital Advantage Insurance Company (Capital Blue Cross), Gateway Health Plan, and National Penn Bank.  Last year (2008), assistance through EITC -- which helps fund our school-based SMART (Students & Mentors Achieving Results Together) program -- was received from Carpenter Technology, Lift Inc., Quadrant EPP, National Penn Bank, Susquehanna Bank, Capital Advantage, and Sovereign Bank.  If YOUR company is EITC-eligible, please consider Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County as your choice.  Call 610-373-5544 for details.
