For our final Throwback Thursday of 2021, we look to the past as we prepare for the start of the Bowl For Kids’ Sake season — and a special year it will be in 2022, celebrating 40 years of having fun to help kids! These two have been involved with Bowl For Kids’ Sake for a large majority of those 40 years.

Former Board member and current BFKS Committee member Howard Trout and his wife Jill sure seem to enjoy it on the lanes. These days though you can find them at the BFKS Pledge Table each year.

Congratulations, Little Brother JaLoni and Big Brother Dwayne! You are our newest One-To-One match and we expect great things from your mentoring relationship!

LB JaLoni and BB Dwayne were matched, as of yesterday. Their first match activity is already planned: going to make home-made pizza, play some board games, and look at some Christmas lights. Hmmmmmm…yummy food, fun games, and timely sight-seeing. Sounds like a great time for their first time out!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County has been chosen as the December Charity of the Month by Blue Marsh Insurance.

For every referral received by Blue Marsh Insurance during that month (whether they write the insurance or not) $10.00 is donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

I’d like you to meet Little Sister Yaranicy and Big Sister Maria, a One-To-One match since 2018. LS Yaranicy says, “Maria and I are twins.” In her words, “My Big Sister is perfect.”

We are CALCULATING that Little Brother Neziah has a bright future ahead of him — but his potential to do so would be MULTIPLIED if he had a positive, out-going role model in his life to stand with him to defend that potential. Are you that person who will ADD some encouragement to LB Neziah’s life? Put another way: LB Neziah + B = a One-To-One match to inspire him to strive for his goals and reach his potential, when “B” = you as a Big Brother or Big Sister.

The Arby’s Make A Difference Campaign launched September 27th and will run through October 24th in stores throughout the country. During this campaign, Arby’s team members at the registers will ask guests if they would like to donate $1 to the Make A Difference Campaign. The campaign benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as No Kid Hungry and Junior Achievement. Look for the logos of the three organizations at our local Arby’s and help them make a difference!

Meet our newest match, Little Brother Chase and Big Brother Scott! Besides model airplanes/cars, LB Chase and BB Scott both like history, so they might try to go to some museums together in the future. They want to work on academics, as well. LB Chase and BB Scott met each other for the first time yesterday.

The United Way of Berks County kicked off its annual campaign this morning with an in-person celebration at First Energy Stadium, home of the Reading Fightins’.

We wish Little Brother Yisreal and Big Sister Chi Chi the best as they start their new mentoring relationship!

He enjoys playing basketball, swimming, and playing Xbox. When he grows up, LB Jayvius wants to be a sheriff or a police officer.

After needing to cancel last year’s golf event, the 19th Annual Jason Claudfelter Golf Invitational came back strong as a record-breaking event. It was the highest grossing golf event ever! This year’s Golf Invitational brought in nearly $31,000 to help fund our four (4) mentoring programs serving Berks County youth facing adversity.

Congratulations to the team from EnerSys! With a score of 57, they are this year’s Jason Claudfelter Golf Invitational Champions! Their team name and score will be engraved on the coveted BBBS Jason Claudfelter Invitational Cup, and will have the opportunity to proudly display the cup at EnerSys prior to next year’s event.
