BBBS of Berks was awarded a two-year, $10,000 per year grant through the Comcast Foundation to help fund the SMART (Students & Mentors Achieving Results Together) school-based mentoring program. With the assistance of the Comcast Foundation, BBBS of Berks  expanded its SMART program for the 2012-2013 academic year to include two additional school districts.  The SMART program now serves youth in Conrad Weiser, Hamburg, Wilson, and Muhlenberg School Districts.

Charisse R. Lillie (Vice President, Community Investment - Comcast Corporation and President of the Comcast Foundation) said, "This grant from the Comcast Foundation is in recognition of Comcast's commitment to the communities where its customers and employees live and work. Since its founding in 1999, the Comcast Foundation has distributed more than $90 million in cash support of programs implemented locally in Comcast Communities."

It's a case of kids helping kids! Godiva Chocolatiers held its Bring Your Child To Work Day on June 15th. The theme for the day was to build a business from the ground up...and in this case, they did a Lemonade Stand. Proceeds from the Lemonade Stand were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters. The kids also brought athletic and outside gear like baseball, water guns, hoola hoops and more...all of which will also be given to BBBS to be distributed to our Little Brothers and Little Sisters at our agency's Annual Summer Picnic.
